Hey Reader,

Seven here. You're getting this because we've connected before - maybe you've been to a previous programme or event of mine, subscribed to a previous newsletter, or we've connected over something over the last couple years.

It's currently 9:40ish in the evening. I'm sitting in a rooftop garden in a community co-living space, with some folks playing smooth jazz and low instruments to my right, people singing and chatting not too far, some working like me, and all of us enjoying the British heat outside together. The sounds are beautiful, somehow energising and calming at the same time, and the feeling of natural human connection is palpable.

And it's got me reflecting about the "unknown unknowns" in our lives. The things we're oblivious to, because we simply don't know what we're missing and can't understand that which we haven't experienced.

But what I'm really reflecting about, I think, is the opportunity cost of those "unknown unknowns" in our lives.

You see, about 8 months ago, I completely and totally burnt out. I went through a rollercoaster of mental, emotional, spiritual hurt. Something that we call a "Dark night of the soul", which is essentially a way of describing a period of time where we question everything we know about ourselves and our lives.

That's why you're getting this letter. Because I found myself and my answers, but only after going through this processes. It was painful, and I had to ask myself "What the hell are you doing?" -- and it hit me like a truck that I had no idea what I was missing.

But I knew I was missing something, and it made me restless.

Restlessness occurs when we subconsciously know we're missing something important, but we don't know what it is. I'd bet money some of you are going through this right now. There's a good chance that's you, Reader. And if not, it's almost impossible you don't know someone who isn't going through that themselves.

My experience supporting dozens of people through this process now, is that the restlessness so often comes from getting tunnel visioned into whatever we decided to do because we saw an opportunity some time in the past. But was it something that really excites us and lights us up? Or just work we became obsessed with because we didn't know what else to do?

Personally, by this point of burnout a few months ago, I had previously in my career:

  • I built 3x communities of thousands of entrepreneurs in London.
  • I advised hundreds of founders and VCs to achieve their goals and helped them connect together.
  • I served some of the largest companies in the UK.
  • I had even done a TEDx talk.

But who I really was, and connection to why I was here, was missing.

Unfortunately, there was no sexy lightbulb moment, no strike of lightning where everything became clear. It was a slow, kind of annoying, iterative process. Most things are, but we're so used to fiction and fairytales of things suddenly becoming clear to the hero. The reality is that you'll need to stick with the process and keep going until everything really does feel settled.

I didn't want to get caught up in the tunnel vision of just doing a thing because I felt like I needed to anymore. And I knew I was someone fascinated by human development. Internally, and externally. As a hypnotherapist, I knew that our emotional state was far more powerful than most of us give it credit for. Our emotions direct our energy, and our overall energy and our mindset towards where and how we direct it becomes our personally.

That matters because your personality creates your personal reality.

Personality isn't fixed; we get to choose who we show up as every day. I wanted to help people figure out how to discover who they really were, so they could shape their reality into the one they really wanted - instead of that tunnel-visioned accidental life that so many folks wake up one day realising they have, not knowing where all the years went.

So self-discovery became the journey people were going on. It evolved naturally, and I didn't figure it all out at once. I tested it with clients and friends, one step at a time. I starting training people and designing my events around emotional fitness. And I codified and made the journey of self discovery practical.

A piece was still missing though: the outcome. What is the transformation people are getting? Well, being emotionally fit and discovering oneself and expressing that practically, for most people I work with, becomes ultimately about confidence. And, at the beginning of every programme and event I run, I teach folks about the energy of different emotional states - with the highest energetic state being that of authenticity.

So the transformation became about using emotional fitness and a practice of self-discovery to build the authentic confidence to create the life you want.

Finally, I stood back, and everything was clear. Though I'm sure there will continue to be small iterations (the process never ends), this felt so aligned and exciting. I started getting out of bed excited for every day again, for the first time in a long time.

It's now almost 11pm as I'm writing this final part, and I feel so relaxed, connected, and yet somehow alive as I reflect on this journey. My greatest wish is that everyone feels that way, so we can all feel at peace and live with joy.

Personally, doing this work on myself already made a huge difference to my life, let alone those I've supported. Before, someone with awful energy could ruin my day, maybe my whole week. Now, they'd be lucky to derail me for more than half an hour. And it gets even better day.

But again, it's a process. It doesn't come immediately - but actually, it can come very quickly if you put the right work in.

My intuition is that the next decade or so is going to get much tougher, no matter how many of you experience this message and transformation. But it might not need to be so tough for you and those in your life - if you take the agency of creating your best self into your own hands.

So I'm supporting organisations to create programmes that overhaul their team's confidence across L&D and Wellness. And I have a few events that are open to the public, including a workshop hosted a Barclays Moorgate in a couple of weeks and a day-retreat in about a month. I'd love to see you there (and you can clear more by clicking those or seeing all my upcoming Discovery Group events here.)

This newsletter will be mostly about how to create authentic confidence and an emotionally fit life for yourself. If that's not your vibe, no worries, and I'm totally cool with you unsubscribing.

But if you resonate with this journey, and see yourself reflected in any way here - welcome.

Can I also ask a favour? Please could you fill out the poll below for me?

I want to get to know you. I'm connected to thousands of people, but now I want to help more folks discover themselves and their confidence so they can use it to build their dream life.

And I need your feedback. If you can take another 10 seconds to answer the below poll, so I can understand the challenges my audience would appreciate having solved more than anything, then I can really tailor what I give you here on this newsletter. All practical and accessible.
